Today is the National Day of Silence.
The Day of Silence?s purpose is to bring attention to Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender name-calling, bullying and harassment and effective responses that help build a healthy community.
The day is most successful when schools and students work together to show their commitment to ensuring safe schools for all students. Students participating in the day of silence will have a card with them indicating their support of this day. While students prefer to remain silent, they know they may be called upon in class and should respect the wishes of their teachers.
Model UN students: The varsity boys baseball game for today has been cancelled; therefore, we will not be doing concessions. The make-up date will be determined later. We will still conduct the election for the 2012-2013 MUN President after school today.
Thanks again to Juniors and staff for taking the time to talk through your ACT plan form, and for turning it in to Student Services for your raffle. If you haven?t done this yet you still have time! The raffle will be open until the end of today. Monday morning we will draw the winning sheet. The winning student and their mentor staff member will win a pair of White Sox tickets for both the student, and a pair of tickets for the staff. The game is Friday, May 11th. Listen on Monday to our announcements. It might be you!
Students who park in the front temporary parking CANNOT exit onto Keslinger Road when the buses are present. Students are to wait until the two bus pick-ups have been completed until leaving which is at approximately 2:55. Please be aware that Keslinger and Meredith roads are in a School Zone and the speed limit is 35 MPH. When driving a vehicle it is illegal for any driver to use a cell phone in the school parking lot or in the School Zone. Finally, it is distracting and illegal for drivers to use their car horns other than for an emergency.
Thank you and drive safe.
GO KNIGHTS!
