Kaneland Student Services is pleased to introduce Family Connection from Naviance, a Web-based service designed especially for students and parents. Family Connection is a comprehensive website that you can use to help in making decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Family Connection is linked with Counselor’s Office, a service that we use in our office to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that’s specific to our school.
Family Connection will allow you to:
Get involved in the planning and advising process – Build a resume, complete on-line surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers
Research colleges – Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past
Family Connection also lets us share information with you about up-coming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other Web resources for college and career information. You can also use the site to send us an e-mail message. Naviance and Kaneland High School are committed to protecting your privacy, we will not share personal information without your consent. Personal information will not be shared with any companies or groups.
Students will investigate and document career possibilities through Family Connection, Kaneland High School’s web-based career exploration program. The components of this investigation will include completion of an interest inventory assessment, called the Career Interest Profiler, as well as an exploration of possible paths of study/training and associated careers.

http://www.todaysmilitary.com/ Joining the Military is a big decision, and one we hope will inspire discussion among family, friends and trusted advisors. While not meant as a source of current military news (you can find that at www.defense.gov), the information on this site will help you carefully weigh the opportunities and benefits service has to offer.
Young people need support as they consider their life path. This site aims to help them and their families understand service options and benefits so they can make informed choices. Above all, know that each decision – to serve our country or not to serve – is personal, vital and honorable.

The ABA does not recommend any undergraduate majors or group of courses to prepare for a legal education. Students are admitted to law school from almost every academic discipline. You may choose to major in subjects that are considered to be traditional preparation for law school, such as history, English, philosophy, political science, economics or business, or you may focus your undergraduate studies in areas as diverse as art, music, science and mathematics, computer science, engineering, nursing or education. Whatever major you select, you are encouraged to pursue an area of study that interests and challenges you, while taking advantage of opportunities to develop your research and writing skills. Taking a broad range of difficult courses from demanding instructors is excellent preparation for legal education.
