Auditions for West Side Story!

Auditions for West Side Story will take place on Tuesday, January 8 and Wednesday, January 9. You must attend one of these two days. If necessary, call backs would be either Thursday, January 10 or Friday, January 11.

Kaneland High School's fall play for 2012, "You Can't Take It With You", is coming up November 16-18. It will be a great show and offers a lot of volunteer opportunities! It takes a great cast and a great supporting crew to make a show work. Can you donate a couple of hours to support our kids?? Volunteers see the show for free!

Tickets for You Can't Take It with You now available!

Tickets for the upcoming performances of You Can't Take It with You can now be purchased. Please either purchase your tickets online at the KHS webstore or download and fill out a copy of the ticket form attached to this post and return in to the KHS to the attention of April Rames. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Performances are Friday, November 16 at 7 pm. Saturday, November 17 at 7 pm and Sunday, November 18 at 2 pm. Tickets are $5 for students, children and seniors, $10 for adults and $25 for a family pass. The family pass covers all members of a family living in the same household. KHS students and staff can get in free with their KHS id. More »

The Cast List For You Can't Take It with You

...............Thank you to all of the wonderful and talented students who auditioned on Thursday. I was excited to see so many of you interested in theatre. As you know, I was not able to cast everyone who tried out. If you do not see your name on this list, please do not get discouraged and don't let it keep you from auditioning in the future. Anyone interested in becoming a part of the crew, particularly the stage manager, should see me on Tuesday.

................For those of you who have been cast, please see me on Tuesday for a script and to accept your part. There is an activity fee of $60 this year. Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, September 4. Rehearsals will run from 3 to 5, Monday through Thursday, except for tech week. During tech week, expect to be here for a long time. Rehearsals will start at 5:30 and will go no later than 9.

Congratulations to Matheu Poust for being the science department's student of the term! Matheu has supported the department through-out the year by bringing in an incubator and fertile eggs to hatch, bringing live birds for the classes to observe, putting together the chicken and duck display for the petting zoo and caring for orphan ducks. He has also been a rock star helping out at the plants sale by assisting customers, straightening, cleaning and watering plants. Matheu always has a positive attitude and will help anyone.
Spring Break England Trip 2013

There will be a parent meeting for students who still wish to sign up for next year's Spring Break trip to London. Parents will meet an EF Tours representative and have their questions answered. If your student wishes to sign up, there is a $100 discount, but only if you sign up by April 30th. The meeting will be in the high school library at 6:30pm Thursday, April 26th. You must email an RSVP to Ms. Madison (Nicole.Madison@kaneland.org) or Mrs. Johnson (Kristen.Johnson@kaneland.org) by Thursday 7am so we know to be expecting you.
Kaneland Madrigals/Chicago White Sox Fundraiser Tickets Now on Sale!!!

The KHS Madrigal Singers will be selling White Sox tickets at a reduced price to help raise funds for their upcoming performance tour of Northern England and Scotland. In an effort to offset the increase in airline ticket price for our upcoming tour, the students will be selling tickets to the 7:10 PM White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals game on Friday, May 11, 2012. The Kaneland World Youth Science and Engeneering (WYSE) team placed 2nd at the regional competition at Waubonsee Community College and will advance, as a team, to the sectionals at Northern Illinois University on Tuesday, March 6. The team competed in the 1500 division which includes private as well as public schools. Brian Edwards placed 3rd in Biology and 2nd in English. Kaylee McPhee placed 1st in English. Brandon Stahl placed 2nd in physics. Ethan Witt placed 1st in physics. Shannon Woodill placed 2nd in math. Also contributing to the overall team score and helping to secure advancement to the NIU sectionals are: Kate Dray, Keri Groen, Mallory Groen, Nicole Hanlon, Joe Rodriguez, Alejandra Salinas, Nathaniel Snyder, Molly Speckman, and Ryan Straughn. Congratulations to the Science Department's Student of the Term for 2nd Term, Margaret Ruppel. Maggie is a senior and has a great passion for science. She is currently in physics class and is also an active member of the science club. In class Maggie is a natural leader and is always glad to help someone either during lab or STEP. She has competed in both the Motion Machine and Air Car competitions that were offered by the science club. Maggie also has perfect attendance in our club and is a natural leader.

Congratulations to the Science Department's Student of the Term for 1st Term, Ethan Witt. Ethan is a sophomore in Physics. He has a great personality and does an awesome job working with others in class. On our first three test, Ethan has helped us set the curve by getting perfects on each of the test. Ethan does a great job of leading his lab group and working with others during STEP. He loves science and how it relates to the world around us. He says, “Physics is great because it explains why things happen the way they do.”

The cast list for Les Miserables has been posted. Please see the document titled CAST LIST. We'd like to thank everyone who auditioned. If you didn't get cast, please consider being invovled in the production in some other way and please don't be discouraged from auditioning in the future. With so many talented students, casting was very tough this year.
The first rehearsal will be Monday, January 9 from 2:45 to 5:00. We'll have a second rehearsal on Tuesday. Due to finals, we won't have any other rehearsals next week. A full rehearsal schedule will be posted soon.
